Freesole is much better than Shoe GooOct 30, 2010
By John Galle If you want to make a quality repair that will last a long time, this is the product to use. I used to be a big fan of Shoe Goo, but the fact is that the repairs never lasted too long and were never good for building up the sole. This Freesole urethane is REALLY tough and adheres extremely well.
A couple cautions, however: 1. The product will seep through even the smallest hole or crack...mainly because it takes a long time to dry/cure. But, there is a solution: buy the Cotrol accelerator (also made by McNett). This thickens the product and causes it to dry/cure in about 2 hours. For some reason Cotrol is not necessarily sold at the same places Freesole is sold, so they may have to be ordered separately.
2. If you use Freesole to build up the a worn heal, be aware that it will dry/cure to a very smooth and slippery surface. I put some rice on the surface after it had started to set. The rice disappears after you use the shoe a bit and you are left with a rougher surface that will not so easily result in an unexpected slip.

Great for Sports Shoes, Vastly Better Than Shoe GooDec 24, 2010
By CraigW PDX I have been using Freesole on my tennis shoes for about two years now. I pronate and wear out the heels of my shoes very quickly. It was getting expensive and frustrating to replace otherwise perfectly good shoes just because the heels had worn down so badly. I tried Shoe Goo and it was okay but would typically last only about 2-3 hours under playing conditions (tennis courts have abrasive surfaces). Then I found FreeSole and what a difference. Freesole takes a day or so to set up and really cure but once it's on it is very durable and long lasting. With FreeSole I have been able to more than double the life of my tennis shoes and now have started using it on my street shoes as well. I'm a pretty critical person by nature but I have to say I think this product is fantastic, and, it has saved me tons of money over the past two years.

Great for sole repairDec 08, 2010
By Boo Pugh I've tried several different adhesives to fix the soles of my Vibram 5 finger shoes. I've walked holes in the balls of 2 pairs shoes after owning each pair for less than 8 months. Instead of forking over another $85 for a third set (and I would have, I love the damned things), I looked around for something to build up the soles. Enter McNett Freesole.
After washing the shoes and allowing them to air dry, I used a piece of duct tape on the inside and slowly started using a bit of the gooey stuff. It takes a while to dry, so you might want to invest in the quick cure stuff. After a couple of applications, I was good to go again.
What would I do different? Run a seam of hot melt glue around the hole to contain the sole repair formula, and then maybe possibly sprinkle sand or some sort of grit onto it before it cures. The urethane is slick, especially if you're walking on the balls of your feet on wet or snowy ground.
I have my 5 fingers back and have walked on the repair for a month or so. I'm not a runner, or extreme sports-anything, but I wear them everyday. Every single day. To work, for yardwork, on the trail, wherever I happen to roam. And McNett has been the only thing that has worked for that sort of use.

Great for soccer boot repair!Sep 11, 2010

Used the freesole to reattach the sole plate back to the leather on two pairs of boots. Worked much better than my previous attempts, holds it securely in place and it looks like my boots will work at least another season for me. Satisfied.

perfect for my tennis shoesAug 28, 2011
By randomreviewer My tennis shoes wear out only on the right back side of the heel very quickly no matter how expensive the shoes are (the latest one was a Barricade V). The shoes become dangerous to wear when playing tennis due to the sharp slope in that one particular side, which risks ankle twist. So I used to change shoes very frequently, throwing away otherwise perfectly looking shoes. Freesole totally solves this problem. I now apply freesole once every 3-4 matches and my latest Barricade wears out as a whole instead of that one spot. The life span is doubled or even tripled.
